Jobs was referring to the fact that 100 million iPods have been sold. The iPod was introduced by Apple about five-and-a-half years ago, in November of 2001. The 100 millionth iPod sale breaks a record, making the iPod the fastest selling music player in the world. While other companies, such as Sony, have attempted to break into the portable digital music playing world, it seems that people everywhere just love their iPods. "iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we're thrilled to be a part of that," Jobs said. Apple has introduced many different iPod models, more than ten at the current count, from the Mini, to the Nano to the Shuffle. I bought a black Nano for my husband a couple of Christmas seasons ago. He loves it and gets a lot of use out of it. Besides storing music, he can use the Nano as a little mini hard drive for files, photos and more. I am a big Apple and Mac fan. It used to be that finding a store that sold Macs was pretty hard to do. I would have to travel many miles or find someone who knew someone who knew where a computer store that catered to Macs existed. Today, there are many Apple stores out there, with lines to the door. And it seems that everyone on those lines seems to be purchasing either an iPod or an iPod accessory. No doubt that iTunes and the iTunes music store have contributed greatly to the iPod's success. The iPod has created a whole industry of related accessories to the iPod, such as carrying cases, speaker systems and more. The iPod phenomena has even hit the car industry, according to Apple. More than 70 percent of 2007 cars are equipped with iPod connectivity. Congrats to the iPod!
