My Pseudo Cell Phone

My cell phone-less status is being threatened. Next week I will have a birthday, and my husband is already hinting around for ideas on what to get me. By hinting around I mean that he point blanks asks me, Do you want a cell phone, an iPod or what? If you want both then what about the iPhone? I crush his hopes almost immediately when I tell him that I dont need any of that. After all, I could always use his nano, if I really wanted one, although the last time I tried that for morning walks I would … Continue reading

Onion-Powered iPod

Out in the world without a power outlet but you still have a burning desire to listen to some tunes? Not to worry, you can charge your iPod up with onion power! YouTube recently had a video posting that shows a user who charged his iPod with an onion. He used a screwdriver to poke a hole in a white onion. Then he submerged the onion in 2 cups of a gatorade power drink (I assume that almost any energy drink might work as well). After 30 minutes have gone by, half of the gatorade is absorbed by the onion. … Continue reading

AT&T is making many advanced preparations in anticipation of the Apple iPhone release, which will take place on June 29th. The company is planning to accommodate massive amounts of traffic in its retail stores on that date, by customers eager to purchase the iPhone and sign up for cell phone service. The Popularity of the iPhone

There is no doubt that the popularity of the iPhone is through the roof, even before it has actually been released. Anyone who owns a mobile phone has heard of the iPhone and probably wants one. Already news reports have been coming in projecting that there is much more demand of the iPod than there will be supply. This “panic” probably feeds the gotta-have-its a bit, after all, scarcity often makes things seem more attractive, but the desire for an iPhone is much more than your typical tickle-me-elmo type hype. According to the magazine, Information Week, for an example of … Continue reading

Is Zune Phone in the Works?

Here’s one to file in the “it was inevitable” folder. Rumors have been swirling for months that Microsoft had plans for an all-in-one, digital music playing phone based on the Zune Wi-Fi personal media device. Today, CrunchGear was tipped that Microsoft execs were meeting to hammer out details and develop strategies for a much anticipated Zune branded cell phone. It was reported the phone, which would be direct competition for Apple’s soon to be released iPhone, would be a smartphone inter-operable with the Zune environment, but would probably not run on Windows Mobile OS, or be touch screen like the … Continue reading

Verizon Said No to iPhone Two Years Ago

USA Today reported that Verizon Wireless said no thanks to Steve Jobs offer to be the exclusive distributor for the Apple iPhone almost two years ago, deciding the five year sales agreement wasn’t worth the many strings that came attached. Vice-President Jim Gerace remarked, “We said no. We have nothing bad to say about the Apple iPhone. We just couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.” At issue were Apple’s demands to retain exclusive control over distribution of the iPhone and relationships with iPhone customers. While Apple and Verizon stores would have carried the device, reports say Wal-Mart, Best … Continue reading

Mobile Web: The Internet From Your Cell Phone

My cell phone provider offers the option of using the internet on my phone. I signed up for the basic service maybe six months ago, and now I don’t know what I would do without it. The thing I use the most with it is email. With my service provider I can check my yahoo, hotmail, or aol account by simply pressing a few buttons. I get a great deal of time sensitive work related email so it’s great to be able to check my email when I’m away from home, and away from my computer. I’ve responded to emails … Continue reading

iDisguise: Does Your iPod Need Security?

Worried about your child’s iPod being stolen? I recently received a message from the company idisguise. The company has created a collection of cases, that disguise your iPod as a container of candy. The product only works fro iPod Nano’s, and is essentially an Altoids can with a little padding. Once inside, the idea is other people will simply think your Nano is a package of mints, and not be inclined to steal it. Decent idea in principal, kid wise though I would almost think your just as likely to have your can of Altoids taken out of your book … Continue reading
