In case you are wondering if you can still get an iPhone, the answer is, well, maybe. But, it certainly won’t be easy. In fact, they are sold out in the following states (in alphabetical order): Hawaii, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington, so if you live in one of those state, you just might have to cross the border (or up ocean) to seek your iPhone. Should You Buy Apple Products?

No, you have not accidentally stumbled upon an Electronics blog. This is still the Green Living blog. So, why am I talking about iPhones, iPads, and iPods? Because if you own an Apple product, you may be unintentionally supporting slavery. Last week, the New York Times ran an article about the abysmal working conditions of electronic manufacturing plants in China. While HP and Dell plants are included, the article focused mainly on Apple. Of course, any company expects its employees to be efficient and productive, but the Foxconn plants, from what I have read, employs modern slavery to please Apple’s … Continue reading

Insurance Can Be Very Strange

Insurance is usually a very serious topic. We seek out insurance as a means to protect our loved ones, ours selves, and our property. Thinking about insurance means considering worst case scenarios. We buy life insurance to help our families financially cope if we become deceased. Car insurance makes one think about the potential of having a horrible traffic accident. Health insurance is doubly scary: we worry about becoming seriously ill, and we worry about how to pay for medical bills our insurance company refuses to. It isn’t very often that insurance makes us laugh. Sometimes, you hear about strange … Continue reading

The Invention of the Year

Time Magazine has named the Apple iPhone the invention of the year in a move that has many people cheering and a few wondering if the magazine has given in to the hype. Although I don’t know all of the inventions that were finalists in this competition (some of the contenders include the autonomous automobile, the compacted City Car invented at MIT, and a hybrid steam car engine), Time Magazine has seemed to make its decision with its eyes open. The article announcing the Apple iPhone as the invention of the year seems almost apologetic, and the writer concerned with … Continue reading
