YouTube Christmas House Tours

Going on Christmas house tours are lots of fun. Not only can you enjoy beautiful decorations and furnishings, but you can get some ideas for decorating your own home. Just this past weekend, we visited a room that was a early century library, all decorated for Christmas. I loved pretty much every part of it and joked that I was taking my photos so we could reproduce the room at home. Of course, the high ceiling and the friezes might present a bit of a problem, but you get the idea. While visiting homes in person is always nice, it … Continue reading

Electronic Social Networks Thrive in the Workplace

You have heard of Wikipedia, haven’t you? Well how about Pfizerpedia or Hershypedia? It seems that many large companies are taking a page, almost literally, from booming social network sites to create their own versions, where employees can share ideas, get personal and even post resumes. I remember way back when, when the corporate world was just starting to dedicate resources to IT (Information Technology) as it related to the internal office community. I was hired, in part, at a good-sized firm in order to create an Intranet, in which employees could share information about their departments, pick up news … Continue reading

YouTube Roundup: Amazing Robots

I’m fascinated by all of those household robots that promise to do everything from make toast to hand wash the dishes. Here is a round up of some of the most interesting, scary or fascinating YouTube videos of household robots. Readybot gets put through its paces as a kitchen helper. Set to peppy music the Readybot opens a can of soup, grasps and moves dishes around and scrapes garbage off of the counter. To watch the Readybot, click here. This next video scares me a bit. In it, a very humanoid-type service robot pours a cup of water and then … Continue reading

GPS and Baby Jesus

Here are some of the stranger stories regarding technology. Let me know what you think of this news. Baby Jesus now has a low-jack. In Bal Harbor, Florida, congregates have equipped a Baby Jesus statue with a GPS locating device in an effort to recover it, if it becomes stolen. This is in response to a previous statue that went missing. Dina Cellini, who oversees the display, told the Associated Press, “…we may need to rely on technology to save our savior.” The Mary and the Joseph Statue will also be equipped with GPS devices. If the statues do “walk … Continue reading
