Holiday Music on the Webby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 13 Nov 2007 05:26 AM What if you could have an endless supply of great holiday music all day long without once ever having to change a CD or cue up a playlist? Thanks to the Internet, you can! There are several websites that stream in music to fill your home with the festivities of the season. I have to confess that I have been playing Christmas music here in our home since this past weekend. But it really isn't all of my fault. I blame it all on my friend, Laura, who told me about this favorite website called AccuRadio. And right now, AccuRadio has a little section called holidays. Think of it as the audio version of the Yule Log that used to play on television. If you grew up anywhere close to New York or New Jersey, you'll know what I am talking about. If not, well let me explain. The yule log was a "show" that aired on Christmas Eve and featured a close up of a burning fireplace. That is it. It also played Christmas music during the whole time, in mono of course. As a kid, I thought it was amazing to be able to have Christmas music all of the time, well at least for a few hours. Isn't it amazing how far things have come? When you get to the AccurRadio holidays website, you are greeted with a choice of holiday music genres. You can pick everything from Jazz to Christian to Pop and more. I started out with "Old Fashioned," to bring back the memories of my parents Dean Martin Christmas albums. I think my favorite section, though, is the one called "Seasons Greetings." This is the main channel and features the best music from all of the other channels. With each channel, you can deselect artists that you would like to avoid. So if Burl Ives annoys you, just delete him from the list. To get your holiday music started, just click on your favorite section. An ad will pop up before your music loads. Clicking on the add will support the website but not affect your music.
