Surface Computing Breakthrough

Imagine using your hand to actually “grab” data from a computer or placing your phone on a computer service, automatically triggering a download of your messages. These are just some of the possibilities that may become reality with a new technology called surface computing. Surface computing is being debuted at the All Things Digital conference under the name Project Milan, by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Dell Creates Colorful New Notebooks

On Tuesday, at a special event held in New York, Dell unveiled two new notebook computers. The event, held at Macy’s in Herald Square are creating quite a buzz because of their colorful look. The new notebooks are available in colors such as sunshine yellow, flamingo pink, ruby red, alpine white, midnight blue, jet black and espresso. The new notebooks feature a lightweight design and “advanced” features. What those features are, though, aren’t completely clear. One thing that is clear is that this is a significant move for Dell. Embedded Chips in Your Shampoo: RFID Technology

Imagine if your money could talk back to you. Or how about your gift certificate or even your jewelry? Your new bracelet could talk all about how nice it is, how beautiful, how brilliant in color. That is all possible now, thanks to scientists at the Hitachi Research Labs in Japan. They have developed a tiny little radio frequency identification (RFID) chip that is so small that it could be embedded in almost anything. Microsoft and Google Battling over Vista

It is well known that Microsoft and Google are far from best buddies. The two companies have been rivals for some time. Microsoft wants what Google has: the largest share of the search engine pie, and Google wants Microsoft to stay out of its space. There have been ongoing rumors about Microsoft purchasing Yahoo in order to achieve its goals. Microsoft says that it doesn’t need to buy Yahoo in order to compete with Google.
