Who Is Your Computing Blogger?

Who is that masked woman behind the screen? It is just humble (sic) old me, so humble I forgot to introduce myself!

I have been having a lot of fun here in the computing blog since the 23rd of April. Normally, you will find me over in the Frugal Living Blog or any forum that has to do with saving money. But, truth be told, I've been a big computer geek for many years. So, when an opportunity came up to fill in for a bit here in the Computing Blog, I just jumped at the chance.

Y'see, I have owned computers since I was ten years old. Okay, that isn't too impressive today, but back then it was almost unheard of. I saved and begged my parents for a Commodore 64. I loved that thing with its huge floppy disks; disks so large that you could use them to cover your head when it rained.

Do you know what a floppy disk is? The other day, my husband, who is a systems analyst himself, told me a funny story. At his office, there was a user working with an older piece of software. She was having issues with the program, so my husband offered to help. She described the problem as "I keep clicking on the little TV and nothing happens." This stumped my husband, who wondered why there was a TV involved.

It turned out that the user was clicking on the "save" icon, which resembled an old-time floppy disc. To her, never having seen or heard of a floppy disc, that icon just looked like a little TV. As I said, I am a big computer geek, and fortunately I married someone who could relate.

With that said, I look forward to blogging here in Computing until the chips come home. Maybe you could help me out. Do you have anything that you would love to see more of here in the Computing Blog? News you can use, tips & tricks, Mac stuff (whoo hoo), software reviews? I would love to here from you. Just post your comments or send me a private message. Together we can take this blog to new places!

Yeah, it is amazing, huh? I remember these magazines that you could get that were printed with code. You had to type all of that code in to the computer to get a small program that did nothing more than make a little man walk across the screen!
